The 1986-W Statue of Liberty Gold Commemorative
was the first $5 denominated gold commemorative coin issued by the US Mint. The majority of subsequently issued gold commemoratives were issued in the same size and denomination. The coins bear the "W" mint mark and were minted at the West Point mint. The coins were issued in both
uncirculated and proof versions. The mintage for uncirculated coins was 95,248 and the mintage for proof coins was 404,013. |
